Sean Mulholland, President of Mulholland Investigation & Forensics, recently led a Cyber-Security presentation to the Rotary Club of Jacksonville. The presentation provided insight into the exponential increase in Electronically Stored Information (ESI) and Social Media usage statistics. Reference to Facebook frauds and perils were from actual investigations conducted by Mulholland Investigations were shared.
Suggestions to reduce the likelihood of falling for ransomware in or related malicious attacks were provided. Penetration Testing is recommended for all businesses, but it is important to remember, everyone is vulnerable on social media: children, parents and grandparents. Remember to use the privacy settings to limit your publicly available information!
Ransomware = the rapidly evolving threat of malware that infects your systems, encrypts your data, and demands a ransom payment – often in BitCoin – to release your files.
Penetration Testing = the practice of testing a computer system, network, or web application to find vulnerabilities that an attacker could exploit.
