It is our 30-Year Anniversary!

Thirty years ago, in 1996, Sean Mulholland began building what has become one of the nation’s longest-standing investigative agencies from a spare room in his home. Today, Mulholland Investigation proudly celebrates 30 years in business. Three decades, thousands of investigations, and countless clients later, one thing remains unchanged: our commitment to uncovering the facts and providing our clients with the evidence they need to make informed decisions.

It has not been easy. Building a successful investigative firm requires perseverance, adaptability, technical expertise, and above all, integrity. Over the past 30 years, our work has helped clients protect their interests, avoid significant financial losses, resolve difficult disputes, and gain peace of mind when the answers were not readily apparent.

We are particularly proud of the investigations where careful observation, thorough research, and the right technology made all the difference.

A Few Memorable Examples

• Sometimes, the evidence is where no one thinks to look. In one investigation involving alleged violations of a non-compete agreement, critical evidence was discovered in discarded materials, proving that sometimes, trash really is treasure.

• Thorough research can change the course of a case. During jury-selection (voir dire) research, our investigation revealed that a prospective juror had failed to disclose a significant litigation history. The information ultimately resulted in the juror being excluded for cause.

• Digital evidence can provide answers when memories and accounts conflict. In investigations involving serious vehicle crashes, our mobile-forensics team forensically preserved and analyzed cellphone evidence to establish a driver was using a phone at or around the time of an incident.

• Real-world activity can contradict reported limitations. Holiday seasons, from Black Friday to Christmas, have provided particularly valuable opportunities for surveillance. In one case, an individual who claimed to be physically unable to perform any physical activities climbed ladders to decorate for the holidays. In another, a subject who claimed to be homebound was documented leaving his house, purchasing a television, and carrying it to his vehicle.

• Surveillance can provide clarity when medical claims are disputed. In one investigation involving allegations of vision impairment following medical treatment, our team documented the subject operating a truck, providing objective evidence that contradicted the reported limitations.

These investigations are memorable not simply because of what we discovered, but because they illustrate what professional investigative work is ultimately about: finding the facts.

Our longevity is also a reflection of the people behind the work. Multiple members of our team have been with Mulholland Investigation for more than 15 years. We have also built a trusted network of experienced investigative professionals over the decades.

That depth of experience matters. Investigations rarely follow a script, and knowing where to look, what questions to ask, and how to properly document the evidence makes all the difference.
