Surveillance Works

Surveillance, when conducted legally and professionally, is one of the most powerful investigative tools available. The old saying "a picture is worth a thousand words" rings especially true in legal matters, where video evidence can confirm or challenge claims made by opposing parties.

While surveillance can serve many investigative purposes, it is particularly valuable in personal injury claim investigations. Plaintiffs often testify to physical limitations they claim to have suffered due to an accident. However, when surveillance captures them engaging in activities inconsistent with their alleged injuries, such as lifting heavy grocery bags, exercising at the gym, or performing yardwork, it can raise serious doubts about the legitimacy of their claims. This type of evidence can significantly impact how jurors and judges perceive a case, especially when it casts doubt on a plaintiff’s honesty or credibility.

At Mulholland Investigation, we take pride in our collaborative approach to surveillance. The foundation of a successful investigation is a detailed case assignment, which we encourage clients to provide via our website, by phone, or through email. Once we receive this information, our team conducts:

  • pre-surveillance background investigation - including identifying vehicles, residences, and other pertinent details

  • basic online review - subject’s social media presence to further assist our field investigators in preparations for surveillance

Our results speak for themselves. We’ve documented claimants who insisted they were incapable of daily tasks, only to later be caught on camera chasing dogs, cleaning gutters, or climbing ladders to take down holiday decorations. In other cases, we’ve captured individuals driving despite having testified under oath that they could not operate a vehicle. Those pictures and videos were certainly “worth a thousand words” to the case.

For more than 29 years, Mulholland Investigation has provided professional surveillance services that reveal discrepancies, exaggerations, and outright fraud. The video evidence we obtain legally and ethically has led to reduced settlements, and in some cases, complete dismissal of claims.

Our experienced surveillance investigators are fully knowledgeable in the laws and regulations governing when, where, and how surveillance may be conducted.
